Four BSD Schools Receive International Spanish Academy Designation
We are thrilled to announce that Lake Hills Elementary, Stevenson Elementary, Sherwood Forest Elementary, and Highland Middle School will join Puesta del Sol Elementary, Tillicum Middle School, Newport High School, and Sammamish High School as International Spanish Academy (ISA) designated schools starting in the 2024-2025 school year!
The ISA program, an initiative of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of Spain, is a unique opportunity that fosters Spanish-English dual language immersion with the backing of the Spanish Ministry of Education. All students enrolled in our Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program will now have the opportunity to earn the ISA diploma upon high school graduation. Beyond the diploma, ISA-network schools have access to a wealth of additional resources and opportunities, including collaboration with other ISA-designated schools nationwide (and in Canada), having access to ELEO, a digital library, participation in the "Auxiliares de Conversación" program, eligibility for educator scholarships for professional development in Spain, and access to training for Spanish Dual Language Immersion educators through a partnership between the University of Washington the and the Spanish Ministry of Education.
Eight ISA Schools at BSD Foster Bilingualism and Celebrate Culture
With the inclusion of Lake Hills, Stevenson, Sherwood Forest, and Highland, BSD now has eight ISA-designated schools and encompass all of our Spanish Dual Language Immersion schools. This expansion, which is a significant milestone in our commitment to fostering bilingualism and celebrating culture, is a testament to the quality of our programming and our strong partnership with the Spanish Ministry of Education.
